Link's Curse 11

chapter 11       Link held the sword he had just found high above his head, then swung it at the nearest moblin to him. That particular moblin was holding a short sword, even    shorter than then one Link had bought at the shop in Kakariko village. The moblins puny blade was no match against Link's more powerful weapon. Link sliced off    the moblins hand easily, and the soul less creature screamed in pain. The hand that had been severed had been the hand holding the short sword. Now hand and sword    lay on the ground beside the writhing moblin. Another moblin swung a large spiked club at Link, but the elf blocked the blow with his sword, even cutting the wood-    en club in two. The moblin shrieked in surprised. Link wasn't finished. He swung the sword again, cutting the unarmed moblin across the middle. It screamed and    disappeared into a green mist.       Some ...

Link's Curse 10

chapter 10       Link sat alone in his new prison cell. At least this one had a bench chained to the wall. But it was made of stone    and felt cold. He didn't know how long he sat been sitting there in the cell. He had stopped crying hours ago, feeling    too angry to cry or grieve. He didn't know if Max was truly dead, or if king Icabod had lied. Either way, Link was    determined to get revenge. The foolish old kind would pay for his crimes. For locking him and Max up, and for beating    Max. The light from the four lamp stands still burned brightly in the throne room, giving Link a way to see. Then he    remembered the key and wire he had tucked away in his tunic. "Yes!" he thought, excitedly, "the wire..." He might be    able to use it to pick the lock and free himself. He reached into his tunic and pulled out the small wire. Then he    went over to the cell entrance where th...

Link's Curse 9

chapter 9       "Aren't you going to share some of yer food with me, child?" said the raspy voice. Link froze in place. Someone was definitely inside the prison with him. Link    didn't know what he should do. The person, or creature, could be friendly, or could be fierce. Link finally felt brave enough to respond, so he took a deep breath    and said, in a wavering tone, "h-hello??" For a moment there was only silence. Then, he heard the voice again. "Yes, child," it said evenly. "Bring me the cheese,    and the apple too. I can smell them and they smell delicious." A cold chill ran up and down Link's back. Link dropped to his knees and reached for the apple and    searched for the cheese. When he found it, he snatched it up and stood to his feet. He held the food out but didn't move any further. "Can you come here?" asked    the small elf, trying to hide the fear in his voice. "Awww..."said the ras...

Link's Curse 8

chapter 8       The bearded stranger led Link into one of the dark passage ways, as the little green monster still carrying Link's shield followed behind. The Little monster    following them made Link feel uneasy, but he said nothing and kept walking close to the strangers side. They walked down a long narrow tunnel, lit only by torches    fastened to the rock walls. The ground beneath them had become earth again, with only a few patches of stone and brick lining the floor. The battle with the spider    monster had exhausted Link, and he was ready for a little rest and maybe something to eat. He did not expect what was to come. Link silently followed the stranger    a bit farther down the tunnel until they came to a large stone room with a stone floor and four square lamp posts in each corner of the room. They were lit    brightly. In the center of the room sat a modest stone chair, and sitting on o...

Link's Curse 7

chapter 7       Link's heart sank. Was this the creature he was supposed to defeat in order to find the key to the chest waiting outside? How would he ever defeat such a monster?    He froze. To his surprise, the spider monster stood still, staring straight ahead, breathing heavily. Link's heart was beating wildly. Without thinking, he    took a step backwards. It was a mistake. As soon as he had moved, the giant spider monster charged forward at him. Link had no time to react. His body took a hard    blow and he flew backwards several feet. He landed hard, dropping his sword and shield. Scrambling to his feet, Link reached for his sword. He managed to grab it,    but couldn't get to his shield before the spider monster began to charge again. Link ran as fast as he could, around in circles. He ran around the spider monster    until ut became dizzy and stopped in it's tracks. Just then, Link noticed t...

Link's Curse 6

chapter 6       As Link descended the staircase down into the darkness below, a chill crept over him. He still wished he had his lantern with him. It would sure help with the    darkness. He had no more fire flies in the magic jar and no other way to light his path. Had it been a mistake to enter the old, dead tree stump? He pushed the    thought aside and continued down the staircase, feeling very unsure of himself. The wooden steps creaked as he stepped slowly on each. He had to be careful, because    some of the steps were gone, most likely rotted away from dampness. The staircase seemed to go on forever, but Link finally reached to bottom a few minutes    later. He had to jump over the last two steps because they weren't even there. Once he had landed safely, there was only darkness all around him. He also noticed    how cold it had gotten suddenly, nearly as cold as when he was standing in the f...

Link's Curse 5

chapter 5       Link ran as far as he could from the tavern. He didn't care which way he was running, he just knew he needed to get away from there. After running for what    seemed like forever, he stopped in a clearing. His heart was beating so fast. He had to catch his breath. He hadn't even noticed the cold. It was freezing cold!    Then he looked up at a nearby tree and saw...it couldn't be. It was impossible. Snow?! Link looked at, and sure enough, snow was falling all around him. What in    the world was going on in Hyrule? He realized his teeth were chattering, and he was shivering from head to foot. The weather pattern was awry in the land. Link    had only seen it's effects since leaving Robs house to start his journey. Something must have been causing the weather enomoly. But what?! Link was not dressed    to be out in snow, and he knew he had to find shelter quick to avoid frostbit...

Link's Curse 4

chapter 4       Link was so exhausted from that little skirmish with the strange monster, that he hadn't noticed that the shop door and windows were now closed. As Link looked    around in the setting sun, that's right the sun was already setting, he saw that other houses door's and windows were closed. He saw no sign of life, save a few    chickens clucking nervously and moving towards the stables. Nothing else moved except for the grass from the cold wind blowing down from the north. For the first    time since being on his own, he wished to be back in his warm bed. And he hadn't even been out for an hour. "Where do I go from here?" he thought. "If only I had    a map." Then Link thought of something. There was a small house at the edge of Kakariko village where an old woman lived with her cat. Many in the village called    her a witch or crazy, and even Link had tried to avoid going near he...

Link's curse 3

chapter 3       Out in the rain, Link did his best to go south. But even with the lantern a blaze, it was hard to make out what was in front of him. A few times, he bumped    into trees or bushes. Once, he nearly ran into a soldier, who sternly told him to go back home and go to bed. Link had hurried away quickly and was careful not    to cross paths with any other soldiers. He knew they were bad news. Finally, after about ten minutes of wandering, he found the large shop that Rob had mentioned.    By now, the rain was coming down in sheets, and link was drenched from head to foot. He hurried into the shop. As soon as he was inside, the shop keeper pointed    at him and demanded that he put the lantern out or leave it outside. Link stepped outside again a moment and set it on a flat rock, then re-entered the shop. The    shop keeper nodded at Link and said, "How much rupies you got?"  ...
